There’s a stacked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) card scheduled for this weekend, with the headline clash featuring straweights Amanda Lemos and Virna Jandiroba. As I’ve touched on, Jandiroba is in marginally better form and the narrow pre-fight favourite here. In fact, her average price of 1.67 implies a 59.88% probability of the Brazilian prevailing in Las Vegas. Conversely, you can back Lemos to triumph at around 2.10, suggesting that she has a 47.61% chance of triumphing at the UFC Apex facility.
Brazilian Lemos is now 37 years old and a veteran of the UFC, having fought 11 contests under its promotional banner. Impressively, she has won 14 of her 18 bouts to date, with eight of these victories being achieved by way of knockout (57%).
Interestingly, ‘Amandinha’ has gone 8-2 since she moved down to 115 pounds and the strawweight class in 2019. The marauding Jessica Andrade and Zhang Weili are the only fighters to defeat her during this sequence, although the latter clash saw her lose in her sole attempt at a UFC title.

They say that styles make fights, and this is certainly applicable in the clash between Lemos and fellow Brazilian Virna Jandiroba. After all, while the former is an excellent striker who likes to engage her opponents in fire fights, Jandiroba is a master grappler who has submitted Janaisa Morandin, Mallory Martin and Felice Herrig during her career so far.
Overall, Jandiroba has won 20 of the 23 fights she has contested, with only one victory having been delivered by way of knockout (against Kanako Murata in June 2021). A further 13 victories have been secured via submission, whereas six have come by way of a decision.
Ominously for Lemos, Jandiroba has been particularly impressive in recent outings. She grounded Marina Rodriguez for almost the entirety of their bout in May of last year (eventually winning by unanimous decision), before delivering a similarly dominant display over Loopy Godinez last time out.
