There is plenty of tennis for fans to bet on throughout the year, but our focus at the end of the summer is drawn to the final Grand Slam of the year, the US Open Tennis, which takes place each year in Queens, New York. This year’s tournament takes place between Monday August 27th and Sunday September 8th. A lot of tennis will be played between the start of the tournament and the Final on September 8th and in this betting guide I will offer you some 2024 US Open tennis tips, set out for you who I think will emerge the winner of this year’s tournament and answer some frequently asked questions about the 2024 tournament.
🎾 US Men's Open Betting Preview & Odds
128 of the top players in the world will set out on the first day of the 2024 US Tennis Open, all with the shared dream of lifting the trophy on September 8th, meaning there will be lots of matches and lots of opportunities to do some tennis betting during the tournament. Below I am going to list for you the four men I believe will be in the shake up for the title along with the betting odds of each of the players with some of the best betting sites in Ireland.
1️⃣ Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz enters Flushing Meadows having already won two Grand Slams in 2024. Alcaraz claimed the French Open for the first time this year while he defended his Wimbledon crown with an easy victory over Novak Djokovic in July. He was defeated by Djokovic at the Olympics in what was one of the greatest matches ever played and suffered an early exit at the Cincinnati Masters so has some questions to answer entering the last Slam of the year. His draw is not that daunting for a player of his class with Alcaraz on course for a semi-final showdown with Sinner if both make it that far.
2️⃣ Novak Djokovic
The twenty-four (24) times Grand Slam champion enters the 2024 US Tennis Open fresh from finally achieving his Olympic Gold Medal dream at Paris 24. He will not have to face Alcaraz, Sinner or Medvedev until the Final with the way the draw has worked out so you would have to fancy the legendary Serb to comfortably make it through to at least the semi-final where he is drawn to meet Alexander Zverev if they both reach it.
3️⃣Jannik Sinner
The Italian World No 1 comes into the tournament with something of a cloud hanging over him. His positive test for a banned substance, though it must be said he has been cleared by the ATP, means he enters the tournament with even more pressure than that of just playing a Grand Slam as World No 1, and one of the tournament favourites. I would still expect him to make through to at least the quarters though, where his Wimbledon conqueror Daniil Medvedev will probably be his opponent.
4️⃣ Daniil Medvedev
The Russian is a three-time finalist at Flushing Meadows having won the title back in 2021. He should be more than capable of making it through to the quarter-final stage with how the draw is shaping up where he would be scheduled to face off against Sinner in a rematch of their Wimbledon quarter final, which Medvedev won. With Sinner’s ongoing issues it wouldn’t surprise me if Medvedev was able to make it through that tie and make at least a semi-final.

🏆 US Open Tennis Men's Prediction
At this stage of our guide, realistically there are probably only five players who I would suggest can go on and win the Championship, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Sasch Zverev but my choice for this year’s title is still Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic has just completed the one tournament missing from his extensive trophy collection by winning the Olympic Gold Medal so I would expect the Serbian legend to come into the tournament as confident as he ever has been, as he chases down that historic 25th Grand Slam title.
My US Open Tennis - Men's Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win.
⭐ US Open Tennis Betting Tips
Now that I've shared my tip for the 2024 US Open Tennis, here are a few more betting tips for the tournament. Before placing your bets, remember to gamble responsibly and always review the terms and conditions of any betting promotions.
Who Are the Dark Horses?
Even though I believe the winner of the US Open will come from the men I have mentioned above there are still plenty of players in the draw who can spring some surprises and take a scalp or two along the way. These men include Alex De Minaur, Frances Tiafoe and Casper Ruud.
Top Tip 1: Frances Tiafoe can make an impact: Tiafoe comes into this year’s tournament off the back of reaching his first Masters 1000 Final in Cincinnati a couple of weeks ago, losing to Sinner in the final. He has also climbed back into the world’s Top 20 because of his form this summer, and he made the semis at Flushing Meadows in 2022, so he knows what its like to go deep at his home Slam.
Each Way Betting
In tennis you have the option of betting each-way on any player, meaning that if the player you want to gamble on makes the final you can expect to see some return on your stake. If you are having a bet on the 2024 tournament here are some statistics from the tournament you might wish to keep in mind before you have a punt.
- Eight of the last ten finals have involved players seeded in the Top 10
- All of the previous five winners of the tournament were seeded in the Top 5
- Seventeen of the previous twenty finalists were seeded in the Top 8.
- Of the last ten winners all of them had made at least a US Open quarter-final in a previous tournament.
Top Tip 2: Back Medvedev each-way: Medvedev is a three-time finalist at the US Open Tennis, winning it in 2021 and is without doubt one of the best hard court players on tour. He is due to face Sinner in a quarter final, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get through.
Who Would I Not Bet On?
There is nearly always a player who for whatever reason reason struggles at a particular event, so make sure before you have a bet, you research the form of the player you want to have a bet on.
Top Tip 3: It might be best to look past Sinner for the 2024 US Open
There is no doubt that Jannik Sinner is a future US Open champion in the making and is one of the best players in the world, but the added pressure due to the attention he is getting over the positive test controversy will surely make winning this year even more difficult. In that case it might be best to avoid Sinner this year. If he does win though it will be some achievement given what’s going on.

Liam Lacey is a sportswriter from Ireland. Liam has been an avid sports fan for as long as he can remember with a particular interest in the GAA , football and tennis. Mayo football has always been a major part of Liam’s life and he has witnessed and experienced some of the great days, but also the heartbreak and sadness that so many Mayo supporters have felt down the years as the county continues to try to win the Sam Maguire again. Who knows maybe this is finally the year?
Liam is also a huge tennis fan and like so many has looked on with amazement as the trio of Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic took the men’s game to a whole new level for so long. In his downtime, Liam enjoys watching a good movie or TV series. He likes to attempt to try and play football, but he has finally come to the conclusion that he is better off writing and talking about sport than he is trying to make his mark out on the pitch!
