Mens US Open Betting Odds – Outright Winner

Despite Novak Djokovic’s pedigree on hard courts and victory in the Paris Olympics, he’s only the second favourite to win the 2024 tournament. Instead, the early US Open tennis betting odds make Carlos Alcaraz the pre-tournament favourite, as he goes in search of a third major in 2024.

Women's US Open Tennis – Outright Odds

Five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek is the narrow favourite to win the 2024 Women’s US Tennis Open. She prevailed at Flushing Meadows in 2022, although four of her Slam victories have come on the clay of Roland Garros. Because of this, hardcourt specialists Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and defending champion Coco Gauff are also competitively priced.

US Open Tennis Betting Tips

If you’re going to bet on this tournament, you’ll find an array of pre-tournament and in-play wagering markets available (we’ll touch on these later in the guide). To help you navigate these markets successfully, here are some experts US Open tennis betting tips!

Tip 1 – Back Novak Djokovic to Win the Men’s Singles

Carlos Alcaraz is the understandable (albeit narrow) favourite to win the 2024 US Open tennis, having already claimed two majors this year so far and prevailed at Flushing Meadows in 2022. He also dominated Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, with his athleticism, variation and mental fortitude proving too much for the Serb. However, the ‘Djoker’ claimed a measure of revenge with a hard-fought in his Olympic gold medal match against Alcaraz, while he boasts an unprecedented win-rate of 86.07% on hard courts. All of the previous 10 US Open tennis winners have recorded a win-rate of 63% of above on hard courts, while the Serbian’s percentage improves to 87% at Flushing Meadows. As for Alcaraz, his form and ball striking has been erratic at times this season, despite completing the Channel Slam. So, notwithstanding the Spaniard’s superb all-court game and ability to perform under pressure, I think there’s value in backing Djokovic to win in New York at a price of 3.15 with Royalist Play Sports.

Tip 2 – Pick Aryna Sabalenka as the Women’s Singles Champion

Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek can both be backed at around 4.00 in the outright US Open tennis 2024 market. The former was defeated by home favourite Coco Gauff in the 2023 final, while the latter won the title at Flushing Meadows in 2022 after defeating Ons Jabeur in the final. Of course, Swiatek won her fourth title at Roland Garros earlier in 2024, but her reliance on top spin and ability to construct points makes her more effective on clay. Conversely, the powerful Sabalenka has won 243 of her 340 career hard court matches (71.47%), and 18 of 24 (75%) of such games in 2024. All of the last 10 female US Open tennis winners have prevailed after winning at least 55% of their hard court matches that season, and despite missing out at Wimbledon with a shoulder injury, more than meets this requirement. She’ll be fit and raring to go at Flushing Meadows, where her aggressive ball striking is always effective. You can get on her to win in 2024 at the competitive price of 5.20 with Royalist Play Sports.

Tip 3 – Back Coco Gauff as an Outside Winner

It’s hard to believe that Coco Gauff is still only 20-years-old, having made her WTA debut at the tender age of 14. She also won her maiden Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows last year, defeating Sabalenka in three competitive sets and become the first US teenager to prevail here since Serena Williams in 1999.

Her game is certainly well suited to hard courts, as she’s an aggressive baseliner with a heavy serve. She also benefits from incredible and impassioned home support in New York, where she has won 14 out of 18 matches during her career (78%) and produced her best form. Such support can help to compensate for her occasionally erratic forehand and inconsistent first serve.

In 2024, she has won 19 out of 25 hard court matches (76%), while her current ranking of second in the world should afford Gauff a favourable draw in her home Slam. Because of this, there’s value in backing here as an outright winner at a price of 8.50 with Betiton, or you can pick her to at least reach the final.

US Open Tennis Winners - The Favorites

While it can be hard to make US Open tennis predictions, there are only a handful of likely winners in both the men’s and women’s singles. As part of our US Open tennis preview, we’re going to take a closer look at these players and precisely what sets them apart.

Novak Djokovic

Djokovic’s record at Flushing Meadows is superb, and the Serbian has won the tennis our times (in 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2023). His overall hard court record is the best in ATP history, as he has triumphed in 556 of his 646 matches on the surface and boasts an exceptional win-rate of 86.06%.

Despite a tough start to 2024, this year has seen him win 73% of his matches on hard courts, while he’ll arrive in confident mood after his historic win at the Paris Olympics.

Carlos Alcaraz

After his dominant display of power-hitting against the Djoker in the 2024 Wimbledon final, Alcaraz now has four Grand Slam titles despite only turning 21 in May. He’s the youngest player ever to win the ‘career surface slam’, and he’ll arrive in New York as a justifiable favourite. As you would expect from a player so young, there’s still some vulnerability and inconsistency in Alcaraz’s game. However, he has won 88 of his 112 hard court career matches (79%), while the 2022 US Open tennis winner has prevailed in 87% of his matches on this surface in 2024.

Jannik Sinner

Although Jannik Sinner remains the world number one, he has endured a frustrating time since winning his first Slam at the 2024 Australian Open. In fact, he was defeated by Alcaraz in the last four at Roland Garros, while Daniil Medvedev beat him in five sets in a thrilling Wimbledon quarterfinal. A bout of tonsillitis ruled Sinner out of the Olympics, so he may not be at his best in New York. However, the 2022 the quarterfinalist's won 72% of his career hard court matches, while 2024 has seen him prevail 17 times out of 18 on this surface. He has also won two hard court ATP titles this year.

Iga Swiatek

Although Swiatek’s game is best-suited to clay (she has a 95% win-rate on this surface), she has also won 159 of her 201 career hard court matches (79%). Her record at the US Open is even better, with 16 wins out of 20 matches (80%) and a trophy lift as recently as 2022. In 2024, Swiatek has won 23 out of 26 hard-court matches (88%), claiming two titles in the process. So, the world number one will be tough to beat at Flushing Meadows, despite facing some incredibly tough competition.

Aryna Sabalenka

As she showed during her run to the 2023 US Open Tennis final, Aryna Sabalenka is just the type of aggressive and clean-striking baseliner who tends to do well at Flushing Meadows. To this end, she has won 21 of her 27 tennis matches, recording a win-rate of 78% in the process. This is noticeably higher than her career win rate of 71.47% on hard courts. She has won 18 out of 24 matches on the surface in 2024 too (75%), while she’ll be fresh and raring to go after recovering from a recent shoulder injury. She’s definitely one to watch in New York!

Coco Gauff

Gauff will arrive in New York as the defending US Open Tennis Women's champion, while she’s guaranteed to receive incredible support at Flushing Meadows. The 20-year-old Gauff certainly reserves her best form for the tournament, winning 14 of her 18 career matches here (78%). She’s also a superb baseline defender who fares well on hard courts, with a career win rate of 76% on this surface. As the current world number two, the draw could prove favourable for home favourite Gauff, while her current price of 8.50 offers significant value as an outright pick.

US Open Tennis Betting Markets

It should also be noted that there’s a wide diversity of US Open tennis betting markets, whether you decide to wager pre-tournament or in-play. But which of these are the most popular among bettors?

Outright Winner

This is the single most popular US Open tennis betting market, and one that simply requires you to pick the tournament’s eventual winner. This usually unlocks competitive odds due to the sheer number of competing players, although it’s usually better to back favourites early. This is because their odds are likely to shorten as the tournament draws closer.

Match Winner

Similarly, you can wager on the winner of individual matches at the tournament. This is attractive due to the elimination of the draw as a potential outcome, creating an even-money market with only two viable options. Obviously, the seeded nature of the US Open tennis draw means that match wagering is easier during the earlier rounds, while accumulator betting is also an option at this time.

Handicap Betting

If you want to create enhanced value when backing heavy betting favourites to win a particular game, you could also consider handicap wagering. This requires you to apply a virtual disadvantage to the betting favourite, who will have to beat the spread for your wager to be successful. You can apply both match and set handicaps during the US Open tennis tournament.

Set Betting

The latter is an example of set betting. This enables you to wager on the outcome of individual sets, whether you set a handicap or bet on how many sets will be contested in a particular match. In the case of the latter, sportsbooks will set individual set totals as different betting lines, and you’ll pick one before determining whether the actual number of sets contested will be over or under this threshold.

US Open Tennis 2024 Tournament Schedule

The tournament will get underway at Flushing Meadows on Monday, August 26th. As usual, the tournament will run for one week until Sunday, September 8th. The full schedule will be released on August 19th, and we’ll return to update this page as soon as possible!

History of the tournament

There have been 143 historic iterations of the US Open Tennis, ever since the tournament was founded in Queens in 1881. The first ever renewal was held in August 1881 on grass courts at the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island, although the women’s singles weren’t initially contested until 1887.

The first ever men’s champion was the American-born Richard Sears, who ultimately triumphed in the first seven US Opens. Although each of these titles came during the Amateur era, he’s one of the three most successful tennis players of all time (alongside fellow seven-time champions and countrymen Bill Tilden and William Larned). In the open era, Pete Sampras, Jimmy Connors and the legendary Roger Federer are the most successful male US Open players with five titles apiece. Defending champion Djokovic and Spaniard Rafa Nadal have both won five US Opens, and remains the most successful active players at Flushing Meadows.

Frequently Asked Questions about Betting on the US OPEN Tennis

At this stage; all that’s left is to answer your most frequently asked questions about the US Open Tennis and its main betting markets. Let’s get into it!

Who is favored to win the US OPEN Tennis?

At the time of writing, 2022 winner Carlos Alcaraz is the narrow favourite to win the 2024 US Open Tennis. However, I’m tipping Novak Djokovic to record a fifth title at Flushing Meadows. Both Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka are heavily tipped to win the Women’s Singles in New York.

Where and how can I bet on the US OPEN Tennis in Ireland?

If you want to bet on the US Open in Ireland, sites like DirectionBet, Betiton and Royalist Play are among your best options. Simply check out our comprehensive bookmaker reviews to learn more about each site and pick the best one for you!

What are the popular Tennis bets for the US Open?

Betting on the outright winner of the 2024 US Open is arguably the most popular market. However, individual match betting is also incredibly popular, while you can create value by engaging in handicap wagering or picking the over/under on how many sets will be contested in a particular game too.

Who won the 2023 US Open Tennis Men’s Final?

Novak Djokovic won his fourth US Open tennis title and 24th major overall in 2023, defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets in the process. In doing so, he avenged his loss to Medvedev in the 2021 final, which denied him an historic ‘Grand Slam’.

Who won the 2023 US Open Women’s Tennis Final?

Home favourite Coco Gauff prevailed in the 2023 Women’s Singles final, coming from behind to beat Aryna Sabalenka in three relatively lop-sided sets. Both players are fancied to do well in 2024 too, while the 20-year-old Gauff generally reserves her best performances for the tournament.
