Cork somehow breathed fresh life into their ailing Munster Championship campaign last weekend, overcoming a late deficit to stun All-Ireland champions Limerick at a raucous Páirc Uí Chaoimh. However, they remain just a point above bottom club and matchday four hosts Tipperary in the provincial table, although ‘The Premier County’ have played a game less than their Munster rivals. A win for either team at the Semple Stadium would put them in contention for an All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final spot as Tipperary and Cork look to build on relatively impressive National League campaigns in 2024. But which side will prevail here and what odds are being offered by Ireland’s best betting sites?
🏆 Tipperary vs Cork Munster Championship Prediction
Limerick kicked off the 2024 campaign in search of a sixth successive Munster title and comfortably won their opening two matches before taking on Cork at the Páirc Uí Chaoimh. ‘The Rebel County’ stunned their illustrious rivals last weekend, however, overhauling a four point deficit with just four minutes to play thanks to a Patrick Horgan penalty strike and four additional points.
The outstanding Hogan took his tally to 1-11 with his late penalty kick, having previously scored 2-10 in defeat against Clare on matchday two. He also contributed 1-31 in just four Allianz Division 1A appearances this year for Cork, averaging 8.50 points-per-game in the process. Over the course of a stellar career, he has struck 16 goals and 300 further points in 40 Munster Championship matches.
While Tipperary were thumped by Limerick on matchday two and subsequently held by Waterford at Walsh Park, they performed with distinction in the National League’s Division 1 Group B in 2024. More specifically, they won four of their five matches and finished just a point behind Limerick in second place, with Jason Forde (40) and Gearóid O'Connor (31) contributing 71 of their 148 points scored (48%).
Interestingly, the pair only contributed six points between them as the Premier County were comfortably beaten by Clare in the National League Division 1 semi-finals. They’ve also yet to hit top gear in the Munster Championships, and it can be argued that Tipperary remain over-reliant on Forde, the in-form O’Connor and forward Jake Morris. However, Cork are struggling defensively and lack an out-and-out full back, so I’m tipping the home side to edge a tight but potentially high scoring encounter here.
My Prediction:🏆Tipperary to win!
💯 Tipperary vs Cork Munster Championship Odds
This match is quite difficult to call, as despite Tipperary boasting home advantage and an in-form attack, Cork have all the momentum following their stunning two point win over All-Ireland champions Limerick on matchday three. The Premier County were also held to a draw by Waterford on May 4th, while they needed Gearoid O’Connor’s free five minutes into added time to secure a share of the spoils. The good news is that there are plenty of hurling betting markets available ahead of this match, some of which offer considerably more value than others!
Tipperary vs Cork: Match Winner
The win market odds make Cork the 1.67 favourites to defeat Tipperary on the road. This price implies a 60% probability of a victory for the Rebel County, who are riding the quest of a wave after their triumph over Limerick. Interestingly, you can bet on the home side to win at around 2.50, suggesting that Tipperary have a 40% chance of beating Cork in front of their home fans. The draw is competitively priced at 9.00, implying just an 11% probability of the match being tied after 70 minutes. However, these two teams did share the spoils at the same venue in the 2023 Munster Championship.

Cork to Win | 1.67 | 1.67 | 1.67 | 1.73 | 1.67 |

✔️ Tipperary vs Cork - Betting Tips
While Cork are the pre-match favourites to defeat Tipperary, the home team are renowned for being highly competitive and producing big game performances under manager Liam Cahill. The former Tipp player is also known for his tactical excellence and ability to motivate his charges, so he’ll be confident of securing a crucial win this weekend. But how should you look to wager ahead of this match? Here are some expert betting tips to keep in mind!
- : Tip 1: Back Tipperary to Win Outright: The win market odds imply a 40% probability of a home victory for Tipperary, which means that there's relative value in backing the Premier County to win outright at the weekend. Tipperary haven't lost competitively at the Semple Stadium in 2024, while they came within three minutes of defeating Cork on the road in the 2023 Munster Championship. They had to settle for a dramatic draw on this occasion, but Cork look more vulnerable defensively this season and have already shipped seven goals in just three Munster outings. So, get on Tipperary to win outright at a price of 2.55 with PalmSlots Sports.
- Tip 2: Back Tipperary to Win by Between 1 and 3 Points: If you strongly expect Tipp to win here and want to wager at enhanced odds, you may want to consider engaging in winning margin betting. This certainly should be a close and keenly contested match at the Semple Stadium, as not only was last year's provincial encounter drawn, but it also saw the lead change hands multiple times as both teams went toe-to-toe. Both sides also have significant strength in attack, so I'm tipping the Premier County to win by between 1 and 3 points at a price of 5.50 with 1Bet Sports.
Tip 3: Back Tipperary in the Half and Full-Time Market: Half and full time betting are also popular in Gaelic hurling, especially if you want to utilise one of your available free bets. Despite the evenly matched nature of Tipp and Cork, I expect the home team to start quickly and the Semple Stadium and potentially open up a first half lead. So, there may be value be value in backing Tipperary to lead at both half and full-time this weekend, at the competitive price of 4.33 with BoyleSports.
⚽ Tipperary Update
Although Tipp have won four of their previous seven matches in all competitions, this includes a more recent run of just one victory in five. However, all of their competitive defeats in 2024 have come on the road, while they even managed to pull level on five occasions against All-Ireland champions Limerick in their recent Munster clash despite eventually losing 2-27 to 0-18. At home, they’ve defeated Galway and Westmeath so far in 2024, striking three goals and 34 points in total against ‘The Lake County’ on February 24th. The aforementioned Gearóid O'Connor also scored 1-13 in the impressive victory over Galway, further highlighting his ability to perform on the biggest stage.

Although Tipperary will be largely at full strength for the visit of Cork, right wing-back Seamus Kennedy remains sidelined after sustaining an ACL injury against Limerick in the National League defeat on March 9th. He’s expected to miss the remainder of the campaign, so Tipp will have to do without him even if they reach the All-Ireland knockout stages.

⚽ Cork Update
Cork’s stunning win over Limerick breathed fresh life into the Rebel County’s previously faltering Munster campaign, with the team having previously endured disappointing defeats at Waterford and at home against Clare. They shipped five goals and a total of 66 points across these losses too, as they continue to struggle defensively and in the absence of a dedicated full back. They also conceded three goals against Limerick at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, but managed to score three of their own as they overturned a late deficit with a 1-04 burst in the final minutes. The talismanic Patrick Horgan was key here, while he has now scored 3-28 and a total of 41 points in just three Munster outings in 2024.

Cork should also be at virtually full strength for the trip to Tipperary, with Robbie O’Flynn (hamstring injury) and Mark Coleman (fractured jaw) having recently returned to full fitness. Shane Kingston (hamstring) also made his return from the bench in the win over Limerick, contributing 0-1 and reaffirming his ability at left-corner forward.
