A huge match takes place on Saturday afternoon as Leinster champions and back to back All-Ireland runners up Kilkenny take on Munster finalists Clare in the All Ireland semi-final. The match takes place on Saturday afternoon, with throw-in at 15:00 GMT at GAA headquarters, Croke Park. The match will be live on RTE 2 for Republic of Ireland viewers, BBC for Northern Irish and British viewers, and GAA Go for viewers outside Britain and Ireland.
Kilkenny come into this game off the back of winning the Leinster championship for the 5th consecutive year. They are the most decorated hurling team of all time, with Kilkenny having won 36 All Ireland hurling championships. They have made the last 2 All Ireland finals losing out to Limerick on both occasions. Kilkenny have had the best of Clare in the last 2 All Ireland semi-finals to make those finals and will have a psychological advantage over Clare this weekend. Clare made it to the Munster final, but they were defeated by Limerick on a score line of 1-20 to 1-26. Clare have developed a reputation of losing the big game in recent years as a result of these defeats to Kilkenny and Limerick in semi-finals and finals and will need to be at their best to defeat Kilkenny.
🏆 Kilkenny vs Clare Prediction
These two sides have met in the last 2 All Ireland semi-finals, with Kilkenny being on the winning side on both occasions. In 2022, they won on a score line of 2-26 to 0-20. Last year's match was a much closer game with Kilkenny winning on a score line of 1-25 to 1-22. The sides also met in the Allianz League final back in April when Clare were on the winning side on a score line of 3-16 to 1-20. This could be important psychologically for Clare to have gotten this victory over Kilkenny because of the key defeats they have had in Munster finals to Limerick and All Ireland semi finals to Saturday’s opponents Kilkenny.
Kilkenny were very impressive in the Leinster final versus Dublin, scoring a total of 3-28. They finished top of the Leinster championship round robin stage with three wins and two draws and a score difference of +35. Clare finished 2nd in the Munster round robin stage with three wins and one defeat and a score difference of +26. Clare last played in the All Ireland quarter-final on the 22nd June, whereas Kilkenny have had a break since winning the Leinster final back on the 8th June. Kilkenny have had time to prepare for this one and have the psychological advantage of victories over Clare in the All Ireland semi finals of the last two years. Clare would love to make it 3rd time the charm but I am tipping Kilkenny for this one because they are in great form and have players like TJ Reid and Eoin Cody who can put up massive scores.
My Prediction: 🏆Kilkenny to win!
Kilkenny vs Clare Performance Analysis
Both these sides have competed in provincial finals this year, with Clare losing the Munster final to Limerick and Kilkenny winning the Leinster final versus Dublin so comparing both sides statistics from provincial finals will give a good indication as to what will transpire on Saturday. Shot efficiency is very important in hurling and versus Dublin, Kilkenny had a massive 45 shots, scoring 31. This is a shot efficiency of 69%. In the Munster final, Clare had 35 shots, scoring 21 which is an efficiency of 60%. Turnovers lost are also important. These are possessions lost in the tackle and by an error in possession. Kilkenny had 28 turnovers lost versus Dublin in the Leinster final, whereas Clare had 32 turnovers lost in the Munster final versus Limerick. These are two important statistics and Kilkenny lead on both, which indicates to me that they will be victorious.
💯 Kilkenny vs Clare Betting Odds
There is not much to split these two teams with the bookmakers. This will be the 3rd year in a row that Kilkenny and Clare are meeting in the All Ireland semi final with Kilkenny being victorious in the previous 2 semi finals. Kilkenny come into the game off the back of winning the Leinster championships which will have them full of confidence. Kilkenny are slight favourites amongst the bookmakers and this can be seen here betting sites.

✔️ Kilkenny vs Clare Betting Tips
Kilkenny and Clare is a very intriguing prospect in the All Ireland Semi Final and here are some tips if you are unsure how the game will transpire.
Tip 1: Kilkenny to Win
Kilkenny are unbeaten in the championship to this point winning 3 and drawing twice to Galway and Carlow in the Leinster championship round robin and then followed that up with a victory in the Leinster championship final. In the 2024 Allianz League they only suffered one defeat in the league phase winning 3 and drawing once and losing once. They also suffered a defeat to Clare in the League final to put their total 2024 record to 7 wins, 3 draws and 2 defeats. Clare won 4 league games and drew once and also defeated Kilkenny in the League final. In the Munster championship they won 3 times and lost once in the round robin phase and then suffered a defeat to Limerick in the Munster final. They were victorious over Wexford in the All Ireland Quarter final. Their 2024 record is 9 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats. Kilkenny have won the last 2 championship meetings with Clare in the 2022 and 2023 All Ireland semi finals defeating Clare by 12 points in 2022 and by 3 points in 2023. It would seem that in the key championship games Kilkenny have Clare’s number. Clare will be under pressure to prove that they are good enough to beat Kilkenny in the All Ireland semi final but Kilkenny are looking strong as the championship develops and a Kilkenny win is priced at 1.92 with Betalright and because of their recent record versus Clare this would be a good bet if you have any free bets.
Tip 2: Total Point Over 54.5
When the sides met in the Allianz League final earlier in the year there were 48 points with Clare scoring 3-16 (25 points) and Kilkenny scoring 1-20 (23 points). The last time these sides met in the All Ireland semi final was 2023 with the total points on this occasion being 53 points with Kilkenny scoring 1-25 (28 points) and Clare scoring 1-22 (25 points). We can also look at both sides' scoring averages per match in the Munster championship and All Ireland to guess how many points will be scored on Saturday. Kilkenny have scored a total 11-159 across 6 matches which is an average of 1.8-26.5 which can be rounded to 2-27 which is a total of 33 points. Clare have scored a total of 12-137 across 6 games which is an average of 2-22.8 which can be rounded to 2-23 which is a total of 29 points. By these averages we can guess that this match will have a total of 62 points. Boylesports are offering a total points of over 54.5 points. These two teams have put up big scores so far in the championship this season and will both know they will need a high score to beat the other. Odds of 1.91 can be found on Boylesports for this eventuality.
Tip 3: Over 2.5 Goals
There were 4 goals when these sides met in the League final in April. In the All Ireland semi final last year there were 2 goals and the year before there were 2 goals. These sides have improved in their number of goals in the championship this year. Kilkenny have scored 11 goals in 6 championship games which is an average of 1.8 goals per game which can be rounded to 2 goals per game. Clare have scored 12 goals in 6 games which also works out at 2 goals per game. Clare have scored a goal in every game in the championship to this point and Kilkenny have only failed to score in 1 championship game, scoring 0-29 in a drawn game with Galway in the Leinster championship. There tends to be goals in hurling games due to the importance of score efficiency as a lot of teams put up high point totals so goals can be the difference between winning and losing. The averages say there will be 4 goals in this game and Directionbet are offering an Over 2.5 goals market which is priced at 1.48.
- Tip 1:Kilkenny to Win: 1.92 with Betalright.
- Tip 2: Total Points Over 54.5: price of 1.91 with BoyleSports.
- Tip 3: Over 2.5 Goals: priced at 1.48 with Directionbet.
