The biggest match in the hurling calendar takes place on Sunday afternoon as two Munster sides Clare and Cork go head to head in the All-Ireland final. Both sides had huge victories in the semi finals much to my surprise as I predicted both sides to be defeated. Clare defeated Kilkenny by 2 points on a scoreline of 0-24 to 2-16 while Cork defeated 4 in a row All Ireland Champions Limerick on a scoreline of 1-28 to 0-29, in a game I had the pleasure of attending in a sold out Croke Park. The atmosphere was electric in the semi final clash between Cork and Limerick and the Cork supporters definitely helped the Rebel county over the line in an epic encounter that could have gone either way.

The match takes place on Sunday afternoon, 21st July at 15:30 GMT in Croke Park and will be live on RTE, BBC and GAA Go. The match will be refereed by Limerick man Johnny Murphy in what will be his first time refereeing an ‘All Ireland Hurling’ final 2024. Both these sides will be full of confidence after their victories in the semi final where both sides went into those games as slight underdogs against much fancied Limerick and Kilkenny. This match should be an exciting encounter for the 82,300 in attendance in Croke Park and for those watching at home.

🏆 Clare vs Cork Prediction

Clare take on Cork in a huge All Ireland final in Croke Park with throw-in time being 15:30 GMT. Cork are coming off a huge victory against 4 in a row All Ireland champions Limerick in the semi final defeating them by 2 points. Cork won the individual battles on the day and showed hunger and desire for every ball and will need to do the same again against a very strong Clare side. Clare were on the losing side to Limerick in the Munster final but they responded strongly with a Quarter final win versus Wexford and a brilliant comeback win versus Kilkenny in the All Ireland semi final versus Leinster final Kilkenny. I might be swayed slightly on this one because I attended the Cork and Limerick game in person while I watched the Clare versus Kilkenny game at home.

The atmosphere was electric inside Croke Park for the Cork and Limerick game and this showed in Cork’s performance. Cork started strong but went into the half time interval behind. They came out in the second half like a house on fire and never looked back, getting the lead back in the 38th minute and never relinquishing it. Clare were behind for the majority of their semi final versus Kilkenny trailing by 6 points with 20 minutes to go before coming back to win by 2 points. Kilkenny could have been out of sight earlier in the game missing multiple goal chances in the first half. Both sides will be full of confidence after their semi final victories but I am tipping Cork to win their first All Ireland since 2005 because their semi final performance was strong for the entire game against the best team in the country over the last 7 years.

My Prediction: 🏆Cork to win!

Clare vs Cork Performance Analysis

Two very important statistics in hurling is shot efficiency which is the percentage of scores per shot taken and turnovers lost which is possession lost both in the tackle and through errors in possession. In the All Ireland semi final versus Limerick, Cork had 28 turnovers lost. They took a total of 44 shots, scoring 29 which is a score efficiency of 65%. 34 of these shots were from play, scoring 24 which is an efficiency of 70%. They took 9 shots from frees/65s, scoring 5 which is an efficiency of 55%.

In their All Ireland semi-final versus Kilkenny, Clare had 27 turnovers lost. They took 37 shots scoring 24 which is an efficiency of 64%. They took 26 shots from play, scoring 15 which is an efficiency of 57%. They took 10 shots from frees/65s and they scored 9 which is an efficiency of 90%. Both sides are similar on the turnover count and they are similar in their efficiency count too with Cork more efficient from play and Clare more efficient from frees and 65’s. The statistics show that this game will be tight and could go either way.

💯 Clare vs Cork Betting Odds

Cork are the slight favourites for this match on Sunday. Cork defeated 4 in a row All Ireland champions Limerick in the semi final and this makes it no surprise that most of the betting sites have them favourites for this one. ✔️ Clare vs Cork Betting Tips

Clare vs Cork is a very intriguing prospect in the All Ireland SHC Final. Here are some betting tips if you are unsure how the game will transpire.

Tip 1: Cork to Win

This game is the biggest hurling game of the year as Cork take on Clare in a repeat of the 2013 All Ireland Football that Clare won after a replay. Clare have not competed in an All Ireland final since that day whereas Cork competed in and lost the 2021 All Ireland to Limerick. Cork have not won the All Ireland since 2005 and if they fail to win Sunday they will be heading into a 20 year drought without Liam McCarthy. Their previous longest drought was 16 years between 1903 and 1919 which shows how important this final is for Cork. Cork are a side who win hurling All Irelands on regular occasions, having the second most all time with 30, only behind Kilkenny on 36. This is their longest drought and this Sunday is their best chance to put an end to that drought. They have lost their last 3 All Ireland finals they have competed in, in 2006,2013 and 2021. Cork come into this game full of confidence and as mentioned earlier I expect them to get over the line in a tight game and the best odds for a Cork victory can be found on directionbet with odds of 1.50.

Tip 2: Total Point Over 56.5

When the sides met in the Munster championship earlier in the year there were 68 points. Clare were victorious on a scoreline of 3-26 (35 points) to 3-24 (33 points). We can also look at both sides' scoring averages per match in the Munster championship and All Ireland to guess how many points will be scored on Sunday. Cork have scored a total of 16-186 across 7 games which is an average of 2-27 a game which is a total of 33 points. Clare have scored a total of 12-161 across 7 games which is an average of 2-23 which is a total of 29 points. By these averages we can guess that this game will have a total of 62 points. Both sides are high scoring teams and their meeting earlier in the year was an epic encounter with goals and points galore. DirectionBet Sports are offering over 56.5 points at odds of 1.85 and the averages point to this happening so this would be a great bet if you have any free bets.

Tip 3: Cork Winning Margin 5-Way 1-6 points

As mentioned I expect Cork to win this one but it will be a tight game. Both sides are in the All Ireland final on merit so it is highly unlikely that either side will steamroll the other and win comfortably. The averages points to this game being close with Cork averaging 2-27 per game and Clare averaging 2-23 per game which would be a margin of victory of 4 points for Cork. It is hard to predict a margin of victory in a game of hurling because the matches can change in an instant. We often see teams go on scoring runs without conceding so it is hard to know the exact margin of victory but DirectionBet are offering a 5 way margin of victory for Cork of 1-6 points. This gives you multiple potential margin of victories for Cork and the averages point to Cork winning between 1-6 points. The odds on directionBet Sports for this occurrence is 2.75.
