The biggest team tournament in women’s golf takes place between the 13th and 15th of September with Team USA taking on Europe. It is the second successive year that the Solheim Cup takes place as it moves back to even-numbered years for the first time since 2002. This has been done to stop it being the same year as the Ryder Cup which moved to odd-numbered years after the 2020 Ryder Cup was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia is the venue for this year's Solheim Cup. It is a course that has previously hosted four Presidents Cups.

🎱 Solheim Cup Betting Preview

There will be huge hype for sports betting fans when it comes to this 2024 Solheim Cup, after last years cup ended in a draw for the first time in the tournament’s history. Europe were chasing history last year, aiming to win 3 Solheim Cups in a row, however a draw meant they retained the cup for another year. The USA will be desperate to regain the trophy for the first time since 2017.

The 2024 Solheim Cup will follow the same format as the Ryder Cup - 12 golfers will represent each team, with foursomes and fourballs being played on the first and second days and 12 single matches being played on the final day. There are a total 28 points up for grabs, which means that the first team to land 14.5 points will lift the cup. If the tournament ends at 14 points a piece, the cup will go to the last winner, which is Europe.

Before you go ahead and place a bet on the Solheim Cup 2024 outright winner, you need to find out as much as you can about the two teams that will be battling it out for supremacy. Below I shall take a closer look at the current 2024 Solheim Cup standings for team Europe and team USA, and I shall also provide you with the odds that some of the best betting sites are currently offering.

Team USA - Outright Odds:

🪢 Tie

The Solheim Cup is one of those competitions that can end in a draw – if this is the case and both teams finish on 14 points, the trophy will remain with the current holders. There has only ever been 1 draw in the history of the Solheim Cup, although that did occur last year.

Solheim Cup to end in a tie:

🏆 2024 Solheim Cup Prediction

On paper, there is not much to split these two teams. If the teams are finalized the way I believe they will be, then Europe will have more Solheim Cup rookies in their ranks than that of the Americans. Lauren Coughlin is in line to be the USA’s only rookie and has just come off a win at the Women’s Scottish Open so she will go into the Solheim Cup with no fear. USA have quality in their ranks especially in the form of Rose Zhang and World number 1 Nelly Korda. Europe has quality as well in the form of Solheim Cup specialist Leona Maguire, as well as leader of the European points list Charley Hull.

Home advantage is a factor in these team events and although Europe were victorious in 2021 on American soil I believe they will find it difficult to repeat this feat. For my 2024 Solheim Cup prediction, team Europe does not have the same depth that Team USA has, and I think this lack of depth will see the USA win the cup for the first time since 2017.

My Prediction to win the 2024 Solheim Cup: Team USA!

⭐ Solheim Cup Betting Tips

Now that I have given you my opinion on who I think will be victorious in the 2024 Solheim Cup I shall now give you some useful Solheim Cup betting tips. However, the biggest tip that I can give you is to always gamble responsibly and never spend more money than you can afford to potentially lose.

Top Points Scorer - Nelly Korda

Nelly Korda is without question the best women’s player in the world and this is shown not only in her world ranking but also in the quality of golf she frequently shows. She is only 26 years of age so she has plenty more Solheim Cups in her future but this upcoming one has the potential to be her best yet. Her Solheim Cup record is very impressive and stands at 7-4-1, meaning she has earned 7.5 points for her country. This will be her fourth appearance meaning she averages 2.5 points every Solheim Cup. This is a strong record that she can improve on this time around. She will more than likely play in 5 matches and while it is rare for players to win 5 out of 5 it has been known to happen. Francesco Molinari achieved it in the 2018 Ryder Cup and Irish woman Leona Maguire achieved 4.5 points in the 2021 Solheim Cup, winning 4 and drawing 1. Only three players in Solheim Cup history have scored 4 points or more in a single week and Korda has the quality to achieve this, which would more than likely make her the top points scorer for the week.

Top European - Leona Maguire

For my team Europe Solheim Cup prediction, my eyes are on Leona Maguire as she boasts an impressive record in this competition. Her full record is 7-2-1 meaning she has earned 7.5 points for her continent. This is even more impressive than it looks as she has only competed in 2 previous Solheim Cups. She averages 3.75 points per cup for her team, scoring 4.5 points in her debut in 2021, remaining unbeaten. Like Korda, Maguire will more than likely play all 5 games because of her previous record and her importance to the European team. This will put her in a good position to be the leading points scorer for the Europeans.

Who Will be the Best Rookie?

If the teams are picked based on my earlier predictions then there could be a few rookies in this year's Solheim Cup. Europe could potentially have 4 Rookies if Captain Suzanne Petersen opts to take the risk. The USA will likely have one in the form of Lauren Coughlin. Coughlin is coming off an impressive victory at the Women’s Scottish Open, winning by 4 shots. She is not your typical rookie at 32 years of age and she has been on the LPGA tour since 2016. She has two victories this season, at the aforementioned Scottish Open but also the Canadian Open. She has two Top Fives in majors this year, finishing tied 3rd at the Chevron Championship and 4th at the Evian Championship. She is in a great position to produce the best rookie performance.
