💯 World Grand Prix of Darts Betting Odds
This will be the 27th edition of this prestigious tournament, and there will be a total of 32 players battling it out for the right to get their hands on the trophy and the huge cash prize. In this section, I am going to provide you with the odds that the three bookmakers above and two other quality bookies are offering for ten players who I believe have the best chances of going on to win the title. I recommend that you place your bets as early as possible since the World Grand Prix of Darts betting odds will decrease as the competition wears on.

💰 World Grand Prix of Darts Markets
One thing that makes darts so attractive to sports bettors across the Emerald Isle is the fact that there is always plenty to bet on, regardless of the competition that is taking place. I know that not everyone who is reading this page is a darts betting connoisseur, so I am now going to take the time to take you through the main darts markets that bettors enjoy putting their money on. If you think you are already clued up about all of this, feel free to jump ahead to the next section.
Match Winner
With this market, all that you have to do is try and predict the winner of the match. For instance, if Littler is playing Chisnall and you back the former to win and he does so, you will have won your bet.
Tournament Winner
Instead of putting your money on a player to win a particular match, with this market, you can bet on them to go on to lift the trophy. If you back Michael van Gerwen and he wins the title, you will win your bet. If he finishes anywhere other than first place, you will lose your bet. It really is that simple.
Highest Checkout
In darts, the highest checkout that a player can make is 170, and this is done by landing two treble 20s and the bullseye. This is a very hard checkout, which is why the top sports betting sites will offer very enticing odds for this market. All you are required to do is predict which player will land the highest checkout in the match.
Correct Score
With this market, you need to try and predict the final score of the match. This market is more lucrative for those competitions which have relatively short matches, such as the World Grand Prix, than predicting the score in longer matches, like those at the World Darts Championship. In the latter scenario, the odds will be higher, which might entice you in.
Most 180s in a Match
On one visit to the oche, the highest score that a player can make is 180. When this is achieved, which is done by hitting the treble 20 three times, the crowd goes wild. The top betting sites will let their punters bet on the player who they believe will land the most 180s in a match.
Nine-dart Finish
To win a leg in a game of darts, players usually race to be the first to score 501. There are many ways to achieve this, with nine darts being the quickest way to check out. It is not an easy feat, but many bookmakers will allow you to bet on whether a match will have a nine-dart finish. Due to the tricky nature of this market, the odds will usually be quite intriguing.

💰 World Grand Prix of Darts Betting Tips
Now that you know the top darts betting markets, I am going to move on and provide you with some top betting tips for the World Grand Prix of Darts. It is wise to keep these tips in mind because relying on Lady Luck is a fool's strategy - it will run out eventually.
Check Out the Head-to-Head Records
Professional darts players play each other regularly, and there will be players that they always tend to struggle against for some reason. For example, Michael Smith has a poor record against Michael van Gerwen - they have played 37 times in the last seven years, and Smith has only managed to win 11 times. It is almost as if he faces the Dutchman expecting to lose.
This is a psychological issue that is not easy to overcome, so I recommend that you do not back a player to win against someone who they have been known to struggle against.
Pay Attention to Form
Form is something that comes and goes and expecting someone to win just based on reputation alone is not a strategy that is going to lead to plenty of winning bets. Research is very important when you are betting on any sport, and you have plenty of useful information on that little thing called the Internet. Make use of such tools to find out the type of form that a player is in before backing them to be victorious.
Read Experts' Tips
Doing your own research is vital, but I cannot underestimate the usefulness of checking out what some experts are thinking. I recommend that you read some predictions of a match that you are considering betting on before you go ahead and put any hard-earned cash down. You do not have to agree with anything that the tipster is predicting, but there will be times when you come across a golden nugget that might just help you land a winning bet.
Accumulator Strategy
Sometimes the match winner odds for a particular match will not be worth your time due to a gulf in class between the two players. The favourite's odds will be too low, and you will need to slap down a large stake for decent returns while betting on the big underdog is a waste of money.
In such a scenario, you can use the accumulator strategy where you combine several outcomes into one bet. You can bet on the favourites, but their odds will be multiplied together to provide odds that are more worth your while. You will need all your selections to win for an accy to be successful.
🔮 World Grand Prix Prediction
Like I have done in the past for other top darts tournaments, I am going to give you my own predictions for the 2024 World Grand Prix. When they are ready, you will be able to find them below:
🆓 Free Bets & Offers
Due to how competitive the sports betting industry has become, sports betting sites have to offer a range of free bets to stick out like the proverbial sore thumb. If you are on the lookout for quality offers that can be used on the 2024 World Grand Prix, then all you need to do is take a look at the following table:
Sportsbook | Offer | Visit Sportsbook |
---|---|---|
Bet €10 and get €30 free bets and €10 casino bonus | ||
Bet €5 and receive €20 free bets | ||
100% match up to €100 | ||
100% match up to €100 | ||
100% match up to €250 |
n.b. Bonuses and promotions are subject to change, so there is a chance that the above offers are not the same when/if you decide to sign up. Thankfully, the replacement promotion should be as good or even better. No matter what bonus it is that you are claiming, make sure to read the T&Cs that apply first.
💾 World Grand Prix of Darts Tournament Format
This is a unique tournament as it is the only televised competition where the participants have to start and end each leg with a double or the bullseye. There are 32 players in total, made up of the PDC Order of Merit's top 16 and the Pro Tour Order of Merit.
The top eight players are seeded, ensuring that they avoid each other in round one, while the remaining 24 are put into one hat and can be drawn against anyone. It follows a knockout format, so a player cannot afford to lose even one match.
First Round
There are 16 matches of darts in the First Round, and the first player to two sets in a match will advance to the next round. The eight seeded players have an advantage here as they get to avoid each other, giving them a better chance of advancing to the next round.
Second Round
The second round is made up of eight matches, and the player who lands three sets first will win each match. Due to the structure of the draw, seeded players cannot meet each other in this round either. It does pay to be seeded in the World Grand Prix.
Quarter-Finals
When this stage rolls around, 3/4 of the field will have been eliminated and we will be left with just eight players. The seeded players can meet here, and we should be in for some cracking matches. The winner of each quarter-final is the player who manages to land three sets first.
Semi-Finals
The semi-finals will leave us with the top four players in the competition, and they will be aiming to get to five sets first as this is what will book them a spot in the final.
Final
The two remaining players will battle it out for the coveted trophy and a huge cheque. To win the title, a player has to reach six sets before their opponent does.
📅 The 2024 Tournament Schedule
To place any bets on a big darts competition such as the World Grand Prix of Darts, you obviously need to know the dates of the different rounds. Thus, in the table below you will find the dates for all of the rounds of the 2024 World Grand Prix:
Round | Date |
---|---|
First Round | 7th and 8th of October |
Second Round | 9th and 10th of October |
Quarter-Finals | 11th of October |
Semi-finals | 12th of October |
Final | 13th of October |
World Grand Prix of Darts Players 2024
As you already know, there will be 32 players participating in this event and the majority of them will fancy their chances of going on to lift the title. However, some have much higher chances than others, and below I am going to take a look at four players who I would not be surprised to see lift the title on October 13th.
Luke Littler
At the age of just 16, Littler took part in the 2024 World Darts Championship and made a name for himself by making it all the way to the final, where he was defeated 7-4 by Luke Humphries. Littler got his revenge over Humphries in the Premier League of Darts final and also won the World Series of Darts. He is the favourite to win the 2024 World Grand Prix and nobody will take him lightly, despite his age.
Luke Humphries
Humphries is in the form of his life, so there is little surprise that he is one of the favourites to add this trophy to his cabinet. This year he has won the PDC World Championship, the World Matchplay, and the World Cup of Darts, while he is also the reigning champion of this event. Over the last 12 months, he is averaging 98.84 which is more than any other player on the circuit. As of September, he is the number one ranked player in the world, and nobody will relish playing him.
Michael van Gerwen
The Dutchman, who is ranked number 3 in the world, does not need any introduction to those who follow this sport closely. He is one of the best players to grace the darts world, having won all of the major competitions on multiple occasions. However, his 2024 has been pretty lean by his high standards as he is yet to get his hands on a title. From the seven competitions that he has played in this year, he has made it to two finals and two semi-finals, so it is not like he is playing that poorly.
Gerwyn Price
Price, who is the 7th best player in the world at present, has won seven PDC major titles in his career, with his last one coming back in 2022. His 2024 has been pretty slim, with a 7th-place finish in the Premier League Darts being his best performance, but if he manages to turn it on in Leicester next week, he has the skills required to beat the best and end his trophy drought.
🏆 Previous Championship Winners
It is always a solid move to check out the previous winners of a particular event as this can provide some quality insights as to who will pick up the title when it is next played. If a player has won an event in the past, then they will have plenty of confidence heading into the next edition.
Therefore, with this firmly in mind, below I have provided you with a table that shows the previous winners of the World Grand Prix, starting from 2023.
Year | Champion | Score | Runner-Up |
---|---|---|---|
2023 | Luke Humphries | 5-2 | Gerwyn Price |
2022 | Michael van Gerwen | 5-3 | Nathan Aspinall |
2021 | Jonny Clayton | 5-1 | Gerwyn Price |
2020 | Gerwyn Price | 5-2 | Dirk van Duijvenbode |
2019 | Michael van Gerwen | 5-2 | Dave Chisnall |
2018 | Michael van Gerwen | 5-2 | Peter Wright |
2017 | Daryl Gurney | 5-4 | Simon Whitlock |
2016 | Michael van Gerwen | 5-2 | Gary Anderson |
2015 | Robert Thornton | 5-4 | Michael van Gerwen |
n.b. Phil Taylor has won this competition the most times with 11 wins under his belt but, out of the current players on the circuit, Michael van Gerwen is the most successful with six wins. James Wade is the only other player taking part who has won it more than once - he has won it two times.
