Top Wicket Taker Odds: South Africa v Sri Lanka
Maybe you know more about a team's bowling unit than their batting department. If so, then the top wicket taker bet is one that you should have a look at - this is awarded to the bowler that picks up the most wicket. 🔍 South Africa v Sri Lanka Match Winner Prediction
South Africa are the favourites heading into this match, but I think the fact that this tournament is taking place on the subcontinent will be a bit of a leveler - the Sri Lanka players should be better suited to the pitch conditions as they have grown up playing in similar environments back home. To new cricket bettors, I cannot stress enough the advantage that knowing the conditions can give to a team.
However, while I do not think that South Africa will have it as easy as the odds might suggest, I do think that they will win the match. The main reason for this is because I think that they have a stronger team overall, both in the batting and bowling departments. Additionally, many of the South Africans will at least have some sort of subcontinent experience having played in the Indian Premier League.
My South Africa v Sri Lanka Winner Prediction: South Africa to Win!
✔️ South Africa v Sri Lanka CWC Betting Tips
Let me now give you my betting tips for this game between South Africa and Sri Lanka.
Match Winner: South Africa to Win
Another reason why South Africa are favourites with the bookmakers to win this match is probably the fact that these two countries have met 80 times in ODI internationals, and South Africa have won 45 to Sri Lanka's 33. I am expecting a close match here, but I expect South Africa to add to their tally of wins.
I really like the look of their batting line-up with the likes of de Kock, Miller, Klassen, Hendricks, and van der Dussen all able to hit the ball absolute miles. They also have a quality pace attack that includes Rabada, Nortje, and Ngidi, while their spinners, Shamsi and Maharaj, are well-equipped to do well in India.
Sri Lanka enter the 2023 World Cup with a decent squad, but I feel that the absence of Wanindu Hasaranga, their best bowler in my opinion, is a huge blow to their aspirations.
If you want to bet on South Africa to win this match, then BoyleSports are offering odds of 1.44.
South Africa's Top Batsman Winner: Quinton de Kock to Win
Quinton de Kock has had a brilliant ODI career for South Africa, and he has decided to hang up his one day international bat at the end of this tournament. He is one of my favourite opening batsmen in this format of the game as he just seems to make batting look so easy at times. To date, he has played 145 matches for South Africa, scoring no fewer than 6.176 runs at an impressive average of 44.75 - this has included 17 centuries. He is a great player of spin, so I can see him prospering at the World Cup.
If you want to bet on de Kock to top score for South Africa, then Unibet are offering odds of 4.25.
Sri Lanka's Top Batsman Winner: Pathum Nissanka to Win
Pathum Nissanka is another opening batsman that I really like the look of, and the 25-year-old will definitely win many more caps for his country. He has shown his batting skills against some of the best bowlers in the world, so he will not be phased by any bowler that he comes up against in this competition. He has played in 33 ODI matches to date and has scored 1,241 runs at an average of 1,241. The South African bowlers will definitely be wary of him.
If you want to bet on Nissanka to top score for Sri Lanka, then BoyleSports are offering odds of 4.50.
South Africa's Top Wicket Taker: Tabraiz Shamsi to Win Top Wicket Taker
The South African bowling unit is a deadly one, and one bowler that I think will flourish in this tournament is Tabraiz Shamsi - he has transformed himself into a quality spinner, and the pitches should offer plenty of assistance for him. To date, he has played in 43 ODI matches, picking up 56 wickets at a very handy average of 34.32. Spin will play a big part in this World Cup, so Shamsi will have the hopes of a nation upon his shoulders.
If you would like to bet on Shamsi to be South Africa's top wicket taker, then TonyBet are offering odds of 4.50.
Sri Lanka's Top Wicket Taker: Maheesh Theekshana to Win Top Wicket Taker
If Wanindu was fit and playing, then my money would have been on him without a doubt. However, he will miss the whole event due to an injury, so the other bowlers will have to step up. One bowler who I think will do exactly that is Maheesh Theekshana. He is just 23 years of age, but he has already shown that he has what it takes to have a successful career at this level. He has played in just 9 ODIs, where 10 wickets at an average of 33.40 - not bad at all for someone so inexperienced.
If you want to back Theekshana to be Sri Lanka's top bowler, then LeoVegas are offering odds of 4.00.
