Most England fans probably thought that they would be entering this match with a semi-final spot all but sealed and delivered. Instead, it has been an abject performance from the reigning champions throughout the tournament, and they will be going home with a cloud of embarrassment hovering above their heads. The Dutch, on the other hand, have given a good account of themselves, so they will be confident of picking up another win here.
England might already be eliminated from the 2023 World Cup, but they still have plenty of pressure on them to perform. I cannot state it as fact, but they must be on course for one of the most embarrassing title defences in any sport. They will be eager to win their next two matches in order to give their fans something small to cheer about before exiting stage left.
The Dutch will have very little pressure on their shoulders as nobody expects them to beat the big boys, but they have shown, with their defeat of South Africa and Bangladesh, that they have what it takes to compete with some top teams. If they turn up, then they will have every chance of turning England over.
England should win this game, but with the way that they have been playing, I would not be surprised if they were to go on and lose. In fact, given how both teams have played at this tournament, I am backing the Dutch to get the win and add salt to England's gaping wounds.
