🏆 Cricket World Cup Odds - The Early Favourites
At this early stage, everyone will have their own views as to who will go on to win the Cricket World Cup. In the table below, I have given you the Cricket World Cup odds for the early favourites.
Team | |||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
India | 3.00 | TBA | 3.25 | 3.25 | TBA |
England | 4.00 | TBA | 4.30 | 3.75 | TBA |
Australia | 5.00 | TBA | 5.00 | 5.00 | TBA |
1️⃣ India
India are the favourites to lift the One Day Cricket World Cup, and this is little wonder when you look at the talent and experience that they have in their team. They have won this competition twice before, and their team will certainly be capable of making it a hat-trick of wins.
The fact that the competition will be played in India will give them an added advantage as they will be very familiar with the conditions. The last time this competition took place in India was in 2011, and the home team came out on top. India's batting lineup is very solid thanks to the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubnam Gill, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul. Even if their opponents pick up a couple of early wickets, the talented batsman just keep coming. When it comes to their bowling attack, top spinners such as Ravi Ashwin and Ravi Jadeja will ensure that their opponents do not rack up a huge score. If pace is needed, then Mohammed Shami will show his class like he always does.
If this India team does not make it to at least the semi-finals, then it will be a huge failure on their part. Some India matches to look out for in the Group Stage for top World Cup cricket betting options include Australia v India on the 8th October, India v Pakistan on the 15th October, and England v India on the 29th October.
2️⃣ England
England's victory at the 2019 World Cup was fully deserved as they had been one of the best ODI sides for a while heading into that competition. They had a nice mixture of young talent and experience, and they played some stunning cricket that got people off their seats. As the 2023 World Cup approaches, the question that cricket fans are asking is whether they have what it takes to retain their trophy.
With the likes of Jos Buttler, Harry Brook, Joe Root, Jason Roy, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, and Ben Stokes, if he comes out of retirement, England have a batting line up that can pulverize any bowling attack. With regard to their bowling, they can call upon the likes of Adil Rashid, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, and Mark Wood. The conditions will be more challenging for England, but they have shown in the past that they can win in the subcontinent.
England have a well-balanced team, and if they manage to bring their A-game to India, then they will be very hard to beat and should at least make it to the semi-finals. When it comes to World Cup Cricket betting, some matches to look out for include England v New Zealand on the 5th October, England v South Africa on the 21st October, and Australia v England on the 4th November.
3️⃣ Australia
Australia, like England, have a nice mixture of experience and young talent, and when you have the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner at the top of the order, runs should never be too hard to come by. While their batting department is strong, their bowling department is stronger with the likes of Josh Hazelwood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins all capable of tearing through an opponent's batting order.
Their limited over form has not been that great recently, but you can never rule the Aussies out of a World Cup - like Real Madrid in the Champions League, they come alive in the Cricket World Cup. Ahead of the competition, they will take on Bangladesh and the West Indies to iron out any blemishes.
They really do have the experience and talent to win a 6th title, but they will need to be at their absolute best if they are to walk away with the silverware. Apart from the games against India and England that we mentioned above, other intriguing matches include Australia v South Africa on the 13th October, Australia v Pakistan on the 20th October, and Australia v New Zealand on the 28th October.

✔️ Cricket World Cup Betting Tips
While Cricket World Cup betting on the outright winner is fun, there are other popular markets that punters can put their money on. I will now go through some of them below. I will also provide you with some of my own ICC Cricket World Cup betting tips.
Match Winner
10 teams will battle it out for the 2023 Cricket World Cup across 48 matches, and cricket bettors will have the chance to select the team that they think will win each match. Since draws are rare in One-Day cricket, you will not usually find odds for such an outcome at your chosen bookmaker.
Since this is the simplest betting option in any sport, it is a great one for those who are just starting their betting on the Cricket World Cup adventure. Experienced bettors can also cash in if they feel that the bookmaker's favourites are going to lose.
Top Tip 1: The top teams will usually beat the lesser teams, but there is always a shock or two at the World Cup. The Netherlands will be the underdogs in all their matches, but they have shown in the past that they can give the big boys a match. I would not be surprised if they cause an upset or two this time around
Handicap Betting
Handicap betting in cricket works differently to other popular sports. For instance, in football, it is about who scores more goals. However, in cricket, a match can be won in two ways - by wickets left or runs scored. As a result, there are two ways to approach cricket handicap betting. In either case, you will be given one team an advantage over - with runs, you give one team a head start when it comes to runs, and the same principle applies when it comes to wickets.
Handicap betting comes in handy when one team is predicted to completely outclass the other. In such a scenario, the odds for the favourites are too low, while betting on the underdog might feel like you are just throwing your money away. By giving an advantage or disadvantage to one team, you can lengthen the odds.
Top Tip 2: India, since they are playing at home and have a quality team, will be the favourites in all their group matches, and it is highly unlikely that they will lose many. Therefore, it is certainly worth considering betting on them and giving them a handicap to improve their odds and any potential profit.
Top Batsman
If you are looking for a market that will always come with enticing World Cup cricket odds, then I suggest you opt for the Top Batsman market. With such a market, you are betting on the player that will top score for their team or be the top scorer in the match. What you need to keep in mind with this betting market is that if your chosen batter does not bat, you will not get your money back, like you would with a football scorer bet.
Top Tip 3: Before placing such a bet, there are a number of things to take into consideration. The form of a player is an obvious one - if they have been completely out of form lately, I would not recommend betting on them. Also look at the pitch conditions and where the player bats in the order - those that open the batting or come in at the fall of the first wicket get to bat with fielding restrictions in play.
Top Tip 4: Who would I put my money on for such a market? Well, if England are playing, I would find it hard to look past Buttler as the guy is a beast in the shorter format. When he gets going, there's not many who can stop him. What about India? Well, Kohli is always a good bet, while Smith is always worth a punt for Australia.
Top Bowler
If you do not want to bet on the top batsman, then you can place bets on the player that you think will be the top bowler. With such a market, you need to try and predict the bowler that will take the most wickets for their team or in the match as a whole. Wickets are the important factor here - a bowler that has three wickets for 100 runs will be considered to have performed better than one who has two wickets for just 30 runs conceded.
Top Tip 5: Since the 2023 World Cup is going to be taking place in India, where the wickets are dry and conducive to spin, I recommend that you think about picking spinners. Top spin bowlers such as Shakib Al Hasan, Adil Rashid, Wanindu Hasaranga, Rashid Khan, and Ravi Ashwin are all good shouts when they are playing.
Accumulator Betting
Putting down an accumulator bet is great for those cricket bettors who want to place small wagers while being in with a chance of winning some big cash prizes - this is because the odds of your selections will be combined. However, it is important to keep in mind that when you place an accumulator bet you need all of your predictions to be right in order to win your wager.
Top Tip 6: I know that it might be enticing to add a large number of selections to your accumulator bet to increase the potential profit, but I would not recommend you do this since it also increases your chances of losing. Stick to the markets that you know well, and also do not forget the importance of responsible gambling

🗓️ ICC Men’s 2023 Cricket World Cup Format
Let me now explain the format that is going to be used in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. There are a total of ten teams that qualified for this prestigious event, and they have all been put into the one group. Each team will play each other once, meaning that the group stage will consist of 45 matches. Once all 45 matches have been played, the top four teams will advance to the Semi-Finals. The team that finishes in first place will play the team that finishes in fourth, while the team that comes second will play the team that comes third.
What if teams are equal on points? Well, in that case, the final positions will be decided by Net Run Rate. Thus, teams will be wary of being on the end of a really heavy defeat. If teams are level on NRR, which is rare, the final standings will be decided on head-to-head, and then pre-tournament seeding.
🏆 Cricket World Cup Winners
The first CWC was played in 1975, and 15 editions have been played since then. Just six teams have lifted the trophy just one, and you can see these in the table below.
Team | Years Won |
---|---|
Australia | 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015 |
India | 1983, 2011 |
West Indies | 1975, 1979 |
England | 2019 |
Pakistan | 1992 |
Sri Lanka | 1996 |
