One Day Internationals Betting Odds - Outright Winner
One Day Internationals work slightly differently when compared to other international cricket tournaments because, unlike the World Cup, for instance, there is no option to place bets on the outright winner. However, when it comes to individual one day international fixtures, there are many different betting options available, and you can see the odds on offer for these in my ODI cricket predictions for this betting site.
You can find the dates for the most interesting ODI matches in the fixtures section below.
✔️ One Day International Betting Tips
When it comes to betting on cricket, no matter the format, there are plenty of betting markets that you can put your money on. Below I am going to take you through some of the markets that I like to bet on when there are ODI matches being played.
1️⃣ Match Betting
No matter the sporting event that you are betting on, you will be able to put your money on the team or participant that you think will go on and win the match. In most team sports you will have the option of betting on a draw, but this will not usually be the case in ODI cricket since if the scores are tied at the end of the 50 overs, there will be a Super Over to decide the winner.
For those who are new to cricket, a Super Over is where both teams get an additional six balls, and the team that scores the most from those six balls will be declared the winner. One of the most dramatic Super Overs to date came in the 2019 World Cup final between England and New Zealand - the two teams finished on the same number of ones, but England won due to the fact that they scored more boundaries.
Top Tip 1: I know you might be tempted to bet on an established team like the West Indies to beat a supposed lesser team such as Ireland based on reputation alone, but it is important to do plenty of research before placing your bet. The West Indies have been struggling lately, while Ireland are improving all of the time, so the odds that are on offer will not necessarily reflect reality.
2️⃣ Handicap Betting
If the odds on offer are too short due some perceived gulf in class between the two teams, then handicap betting is a good way to lengthen them. With such a market, you will be able to give one of the two teams a hypothetical disadvantage or advantage.
For example, if England are taking on the Netherlands and have set them a solid figure of 350 to win the game, you can give the Dutch a +40.5 handicap, which will see England's odds lengthen, giving you more value for your bet. Keep in mind that the potential value on offer is always important when you are betting on any sport.
Top Tip 2: The odds for overwhelming favourites against perceived underdogs will never be worth betting on because the potential profit margins are too low. In order to make any sort of decent return, you will have to place a large stake. Many punters focus on the underdog when it comes to handicap betting, but I suggest you focus on giving the favourite a slight disadvantage - they will still have a good chance of winning the match, and the odds will be better than a straight bet.
3️⃣ Top Batsman
Betting on individual players in a team sport is a great way to show of your of the team and the sport as a whole. With the top batsman market, what you are betting on is the player that you think will score the most runs for their team in a match or across an ODI series. This is not an easy bet to get right since one mistake can see the batsman walking back to the changing room, but its difficulty is usually reflected in the odds that are on offer.
Top Tip 3: Before you put your money on a player to top score, you need to check out their more recent form. If they have been horribly out of form, then I do not suggest that you put your money on them. Also, you should think about betting on a batsman that plays higher up the order. Not only are these the more capable batsmen, but they also get the advantage of batting during a Powerplay, where fielding restrictions are in play.
4️⃣ Top Bowler
If you do not want to bet on the top batsman, then you can put your money on the top bowler instead. Like the top batsman market, the odds that are on offer for this one will usually always be pretty enticing due to the fact that it is not easy to predict. For this market, the best bowler will be the player that picks up the most wickets, regardless of how many runs they go for.
Top Tip 4: When you are selecting your top bowler, always take the weather into consideration as it can play a huge role in a game of cricket. For instance, in England, during common wet and overcast conditions, the seam bowlers are likely to get plenty of swing and seam off the wicket, meaning their chances of picking up wickets will increase. If, on the other hand, the matches are being played in India, then it is wise to pick the spinner on the dry surfaces.
5️⃣Mode of Dismissal
In a game of cricket, no matter the format, the modes of dismissal will remain the same. There are a number of ways that a bowler can send a batsman back to the pavilion, and these are:
- Caught
- Leg-Before-Wicket
- Bowled
- Stumped
There are other modes of dismissals that do not necessarily have to involve the bowler, and these include:
- Hit Wicket
- Obstructing the Field
- Run Out
All of the top sports betting sites will give you the option of betting on the way that the next batsman will be dismissed – they will all have different odds based on how common they are. For example, a batsman being out caught is the most common method of dismissal, so this will have the lowest odds. On the other hand, obstructing the field is very rare, so it has high odds.
Top Tip 5: Before you go ahead and place money on the method of dismissal, take a look at the batsmen that are batting and then find out about their weaknesses and how they frequently get out and whether they have any bowlers who they seem to struggle against. For instance, England fans will fondly remember David Warner being Stuart Broad’s bunny.
6️⃣ Accumulator Betting
If you want to place bets on different markets for different games, then you will be able to do so thanks to accumulator betting. This has become really popular for One Day International cricket match betting today due to the fact that all off the odds from the different selections are combined to form higher odds. This means that there is the potential to win large cash sums when placing small wagers.
However, there is a downside to accumulator betting, and this is that you need to get all selections correct in order to win your wager. If you pick eight selections and get 7/8 right, you will be close but still have no cigar.
Top Tip 6: Accumulator betting can be fun, but my advice to you is to not place too many accumulator bets. Yes, the potential winnings are enticing, but the chances of winning such bets are low due to the fact that you need to get all of your selections correct. Yes, betting is something that should be fun, but you also need to always be smart when you are betting.

💾 ODI Format
I know that some of you might be new to the world of cricket, which is why I am now going to briefly explain the format of ODI cricket to you. It is often called 50-over cricket due to the fact that each team gets 50 overs, or 300 balls, to try and score as many runs as they can - if ten batsmen from the eleven man team are dismissed, the innings comes to an end, regardless of the number of balls that have been bowled. If this happens, the team is said to have been "bowled out".
There are mandatory powerplays, and these are as follow:
- During overs 1-10, no more than two fielders can be outside of the 30-yard ring
- For overs 11-40, no more than four fielders can be outside the 30-yard ring
- For the last ten overs of the match, overs 41-50, no more than five fielders can be beyond the 30-yard ring
The ICC put these powerplays in place to try and make the format as entertaining as possible. If teams were able to set Test format fields, with everyone out on the boundaries, then scoring would be much harder, while being dismissed would become a lot easier.
📅 One Day Internationals Fixtures/Schedule

❓ Frequently Asked Questions about Betting on One Day Internationals
What Are the Best Brands for Betting on the One Day Internationals?
You will find betting odds and markets for cricket at the majority of sportsbooks that Irish punters can place bets on, but some of the best brands for betting on this format include the likes of BoyleSports, Betway, LegendPlay, William Hill, and LegendPlay.
Are There Free Bet Offers Available for One Day Internationals?
You will find it hard to come across a site that offers regular free bets specifically for cricket ODI series, but the likes of Betway and BoyleSports are two sites that like to offer free bets regularly.
Who Has the Best ODI Team?
When it comes to One Day International rankings, Pakistan are sitting at the top of the table, tied on rating points with Australia. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are the best ODI team. I do not think there will be many people who will disagree with me when I say that England probably have the best ODI team. They have batsman who can completely destroy a bowling attack, while their bowlers are consistent and savy.
When Do One Day Internationals Take Place?
One Day internationals take place all throughout the year, so there are plenty of betting options available. However, as always, when you are betting on an ODI match, or any other sport for that matter, make sure that you gamble responsibly and set yourself a budget and stick to it.
