Sheldon Muchmore

Sheldon has had a passion for writing for as long as he can remember. The earliest writing experience that he can recall goes back to when he went through a poem writing phase when he was around nine years old - he remembers being told how good they were and that he had a future as a poet, which led him to start dreaming about becoming a famous poet, maybe even becoming the Poet Laureate, one day. However, his true lack of poetry skills were confirmed when his mother shared a poem with him that he wrote many years ago, and he realised that those who told him he could be a poet were nothing but liars. "I read the first stanza of the poem and had to stop, lest it convinced me to put my writing aspirations on hold and become a priest. Seriously, it was that bad. And no, I cannot share it with anyone"!

Thankfully, for us here at BetInIreland and our huge number of readers, Sheldon did not let his realisation that he was not Alfred Tennyson 2.0 turn him into a man of the cloth. While he was aware that his poetry writing days were behind him, he was still very much into literature and writing, which was why he decided to study for a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Honours) in English at the University of Malta before completing his education by reading for a Master of Arts in English (Modern and Contemporary Literature and Criticism).

However, for him, as he likes to tell anyone that will listen, "a person's education can never be complete because there is always something new to learn. If you think otherwise, then you are sorely mistaken and are missing out on all of the wonders of learning". Cheesy, but who doesn’t like cheese? His favourite, if anyone cares, is Applewood.

When he left the education system and entered the big wide world in 2016, he started writing voluntarily for a website by the name of Read Everything, while looking for full-time work. This site has all of the latest news for the world's most popular sports, so it was right up Sheldon's street since his passion for literature and writing is only rivalled by his passion for sports and travel.

When it comes to sports, the three that he loves the most are football, rugby union, and cricket. With regard to football, he has been an avid Aston Villa fan since he was about six years old, which, as he often jokes, “is a mistake that he is yet to fully come to terms with”. At least they are now showing a bit of form in the English Premier League and, with a bit of luck, might make their way back into Europe in the next season or two. It was for Read Aston Villa that he wrote hundreds of articles with transfer news, match predictions, and player ratings being his main topics of interest.

He has also been following rugby union and cricket for well over a decade now, and while he only supports England’s national team in both sports, he still watches whatever cricket and rugby he can in his spare time so that he can build on his extensive knowledge in these sports. His favourite rugby competitions include the Six Nations and the Rugby World Cup, while as a patriotic Englishman his favourite cricket events include The Ashes (there is nothing better than beating the Aussies), the Indian Premier League, and both formats of the Cricket World Cup.

Other sports that he watches as often as he can includes tennis, darts, snookers, boxing, Formula 1, and cycling. As a child, he lived in the small Irish village of Horseleap in Offaly, Westmeath, for four years, where he enjoyed playing Gaelic Football and hurling. Therefore, in order to bring back a little bit of nostalgia every now and then, he also likes to take the time to find out what is happening in world of Gaelic Football and hurling, especially when the All-Ireland Championships are on. One day he wants to head to Croke Park and experience the All-Ireland football final in all its glory.

As well as writing free articles for Read Everything, he also became a part-time freelance content writer and proofreader for a company based in Malta by the name of Sidekick, which has since changed its name to TopContent. For three years, he wrote content on a variety of topics ranging from online slot machine reviews to betting guides for casino games to articles comparing various software to articles promoting goods. When it came down to proofreading, he proofread a variety of casino and slot game reviews as well as terms and conditions. He learnt an awful lot about the iGaming industry during his three years working for TopContent, and it was something that he enjoyed writing about.

His first full-time job as a writer came in October 2016 when he was hired as a writer and proofreader by a company called Global Content Limited, which is an Israeli-owned company that owns English, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese websites that sends top-quality interesting content to their subscribers every single day. During his time writing for ba-bamail, he wrote about a variety of topics including travel, nature, art, science, technology, and health, and he enjoyed his time here as he got to boost his knowledge on many different topics.

However, he wanted to get into the world of iGaming, so he started applying for jobs with iGaming companies while still writing part-time for TopContent in order to build on his online casino knowledge - he knew that the better his online gaming knowledge was, the better his chances of being hired by a top iGaming company would be. He was particularly interested in joining an affiliate company because he has always enjoyed helping others and loves nothing more than using his casino and sports knowledge to help punters have a top gambling experience and increase their entertainment levels.

He joined the BetInIreland team back in July 2019, and he has since gone on to become a really valuable member of our team - he is extremely knowledgeable in both the online casino and sports betting field and is equally at home whether he is writing a slot review, online casino review, game guide or providing our readers with quality predictions for a variety of sports such as football, darts, boxing, rugby, Gaelic football, and Gaelic Hurling. He is equally adept when it comes to writing sportsbook reviews or betting guides for the most popular sports in Ireland. We are not exaggerating when we say that we have yet to come across anyone else who has such extensive sporting knowledge. What he does not know about some sports really is not worth knowing.

What does he like to do to wind down when he is not at work? Well, in order to stay fit he enjoys playing football and doing home workouts, while he has also started playing Padel – if you have not played it, then he highly recommends that you give it a go as it really is a great way to reach 10,000 steps a day.

When he has the money, he loves to travel to new countries, with some of his favourite countries being North Macedonia, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Serbia, and Romania. If you have not been to any of these countries, then he definitely suggests that you pay them a visit, especially the Balkan countries as they are severely underrated. “Yes, going to Spain each year is nice, but there is a whole wide world out there to see, so why limit yourself to the one place? Benidorm is not going to disappear if you visit somewhere else”.

When he is not traveling or doing some sort of exercise, he likes to relax by watching series on Netflix and Disney. He is a big Marvel fan, so name a Marvel film or series and you can be certain that he has watched it – probably more than once. When it comes to Netflix series, he has particularly enjoyed watching the likes of Z Nation, All of Us Are Dead, Squid Game, and Wednesday. Sheldon definitely knows about second breakfast, elevenses, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, and supper because he makes it a point to watch the extended version of the Lord of the Rings trilogy at least once a year.
